Leona Theunissen
Secretary
Leona Theunissen is the Secretary of Dock5 Films and an aspiring intellectual property litigator. She is currently a Juris Doctor (J.D.) candidate at Boston University School of Law, where she serves as a student editor for the Journal of Science & Technology Law. Before beginning her J.D., Leona graduated first in her class from Boston University School of Law with an LL.M. in Intellectual Property & Information Law, following an LL.B. in European and International Law from Maastricht University in the Netherlands. Throughout her academic career, she has focused on copyright, trademark, patent, artificial intelligence, and digital regulation, developing a strong cross-border understanding of the legal challenges facing artists, creators, and innovators in an increasingly technology-driven world. Her meticulous attention to detail and passion for advocacy continue to shape her goal of practicing intellectual property litigation.
Leona's commitment to Dock5 Films is deeply personal. Growing up in the Bay Area, California, she attended a high school with an arts program that was eliminated during her sophomore year, limiting opportunities for aspiring young creatives. Through lifelong friendships with Dock5 Films founder Kadrik Blatt and Vice President JonCarlo Salinas-Tognetti, she witnessed firsthand the importance of accessible artistic communities and mentorship. As Secretary, Leona hopes to create opportunities for young filmmakers whose talent and ambition deserve a chance to flourish regardless of their background or resources. She believes the arts and the law share a common foundation in storytelling, creativity, and advocacy, and is proud to support Dock5 Films' mission of empowering the next generation of filmmakers.
