JonCarlo Salinas-Tognetti

JonCarlo Salinas-Tognetti is an actor and teaching artist currently residing in the Bay Area. Discovering acting at a young age, he has been passionate for the art form ever since. He graduated with Honors from Diablo Valley Community College, attaining a Theatre AA. The program provided an opportunity to work both on and off the stage and develop a well-rounded understanding of the theatre artform. While still in school, he acted professionally around the Bay Area at the Lesher Center for the Arts and Berkley Playhouse. He has also trained with the Tony Award-winning American Conservatory Theatre in San Francisco, in a 15 weeklong training program. Through scheduled classes with working professional artists, meetings with current staff of the theater, and personal mentorship, the program gave him the tools to define himself as an artist.

When he is not in a theatre, he is in the classroom working towards graduating from San Francisco State University with a degree in International Relations. As being the child of a first-generation immigrant is a major aspect of his life, he believes that an education and understanding of the world is deeply important. JonCarlo also works for the Contra Costa County Clean Water Program, which is dedicated to teaching the population about recycling and keeping our water clean. JonCarlo believes that art is essential to the world, and throughout his life has been given the support to develop his artistic voice and he wants to do the same for others. Through Dock5 Films’ mission of mentorship, he believes that it will truly help the film community flourish and welcome in the next generation of filmmakers.
